The Dental Public Health and Special Care Dentistry Nexus, Overcoming the Barriers to Improve Oral Health at Population and Individual levels.

There is an acknowledgement that both Societies have shared core values which seek to improve the quality of life experienced by people throughout our nation, but most of all those who experience inequality and inequity, whom more often than not are individuals and groups who experience impairment and/or disability. We must  emphasise our common vision to drive forward as a collaborative to address the needs of the most vulnerable members of our society.

Aim: To share the experiences of both Dental Public Health and Special Care Dentistry in promoting, improving and delivering good oral health for people who experience impairment and/or disability

CPD hours: Two hours and 45 minutes CPD

GDC development outcomes: C, maintenance and development of knowledge and skill within your field of practice

Learning outcomes:

  • To identify the barriers experienced at population and individual levels, with the common goal of improving the oral and general health of our nations, including common risk factors approaches
  • To explore and evidence how we might collaborate and develop as closely linked partners in the improvement of oral and general health
